An affordability assessment is a review of your financial situation to determine whether credit is affordable for you.
As a registered credit provider in South Africa, Fido is required by the National Credit Act (NCA) to assess a customer's ability to repay before credit can be approved.
During the assessment, we review information such as your income, regular deposits, and existing financial commitments to determine whether the credit amount requested is suitable for your circumstances.
Why Is It Important?
The affordability assessment helps:
- Promote responsible lending
- Protect customers from taking on unaffordable debt
- Ensure credit decisions are fair and informed
- Determine your eligibility for a Fido credit
What Information Is Used?
As part of the assessment, Fido reviews:
- Your South African ID verification
- Your bank account information
- Your last three months' bank statements
- Information provided during your Fido Score survey
Once the assessment is complete, you'll receive a decision in the Fido App.
At Fido, we ensure your data is always safe, secure, and protected, giving you the confidence to access our financial services with peace of mind.
