Can I verify my account without a South African ID?

Account verification is a mandatory step when applying for credit with Fido. To verify your account, you must provide a valid South African ID document as part of the identity verification process.

Your South African ID helps us confirm your identity, comply with regulatory requirements, and protect your account from fraud.

Why Is a South African ID Required?

As a regulated Credit Provider in South Africa, Fido is required to verify the identity of every customer before providing access to credit services.

During verification, your ID details are securely checked and matched against relevant records to confirm your identity. This helps ensure a safe and reliable borrowing experience for all customers.

What If I Don't Have a South African ID?

If you do not have a valid South African ID, you will not be able to complete account verification or access credit through the Fido App at this time.

If your ID has been lost, stolen, or expired, we recommend contacting the relevant South African authorities to obtain a replacement or updated document before continuing with your application.

What Happens After I Submit My ID?

Once you submit your South African ID, you'll be guided through the remaining verification steps, which include:

  • Taking a live selfie to confirm your identity
  • Providing your residential address
  • Completing a short customer survey
  • Undergoing an affordability assessment, where required

These steps help us verify your information and determine your eligibility for credit.
