Guide: Credit Application

Applying for credit with Fido is simple, secure, and fully digital. This guide will walk you through each step of the application process and help you understand what to expect before your credit is approved and disbursed.

Welcome Screen

After selecting ‘Draw Now’, you will see a welcome screen that explains:

  • Why the affordability assessment is required
  • How your information will be used to assess your application
  • The permissions required for the Fido App to function properly

Select "Allow" to continue and grant the required app permissions.

Complete Your Affordability Assessment

Before credit can be approved, South African regulations require Fido to assess whether the credit is affordable for you.

To complete this step:

  • Connect your bank account securely through the Fido App, where available.
  • Submit your recent banking information or bank statements as requested.
  • Complete any additional information required as part of the affordability assessment.

This process helps us understand your income and financial obligations so we can make responsible lending decisions.

Select "Next" to continue once all required information has been provided.

Review Your Loan Offer

If your affordability assessment is successful, you'll receive a credit offer in the Fido App.

On the loan offer screen, you can:

  • Select your preferred credit amount from the available offer.
  • Review your repayment term and repayment schedule.
  • View all applicable fees and charges.
  • Review the total amount repayable.

Once you're satisfied with the details, select "Next" to continue.

Credit Agreement

Before proceeding, you'll be presented with your credit agreement and terms and conditions.

We encourage you to read the agreement carefully to understand:

  • Your repayment obligations
  • Applicable fees and charges

If you agree with the terms, accept the agreement to proceed.

Authorise Your DebiCheck Mandate

Before your credit can be disbursed, you'll need to approve a DebiCheck mandate.

A notification will be sent to your banking app, where you'll be asked to authorise the mandate.

The DebiCheck mandate allows:

  • Automatic repayment collection on the due date
  • Secure repayments from your verified bank account
  • Compliance with South African banking regulations

Please note that credit disbursement cannot proceed until the DebiCheck mandate has been successfully authorised.

Receive Your Funds

Once your DebiCheck mandate has been approved:

  • Your credit will be disbursed directly to your verified bank account.
  • The bank account used for disbursement must be registered in your own name.
  • Funds are typically received shortly after approval and authorisation, depending on your bank's processing times.

You will receive confirmation in the Fido App once your credit has been successfully disbursed.

Important to Know

  • All credit applications are subject to affordability assessment and final approval.
  • You must have an active South African bank account registered in your own name.
  • DebiCheck authorisation is mandatory before funds can be disbursed.
  • Never share your PIN, OTP, or banking credentials with anyone.
